Nov 2011: Thanks for checking in with me. I am doing well and working on a vareity of projects, mostly...outdoors! You can see for yourself: www.privateerpelts.us. I have been trying to keep prepared for the coming of the Zombies. My rifles are shot in and my jump-bag is full. That's all a slayer can do in the down time zone...
May 2009: As many of you know, I have been sick over the past few Halloweens and team DPe did not want to hold the Halloween writing contest without me. This year however I plan to hold the contest come hell or vampire. I took a moment to e-mail a few contacts and came up with some wonderful sponsors such as ebookmall.com and authorsden.com. Then I sent a e-mail to Horrormaster Mike at Horrorfind.com and he said he would sponsor the contest and throw in a few goodies. He shipped me a huge box packed full of wonderful prizes. Thus, HORRORFIND.COM is the prime sponsor of this years contest! Their generosity is nothing less than astounding. The contest page is up and running. At this time I am only waiting for the contest graphic from ShiroArt and all will be ready.
I really look forward to your entry this year!
January 2009: Welcome to the New Year! We must forge ahead and not give up our quest to do good things and bring all evil to an end. This new year affords us an oppertunity to continue our efforts at becomeing the best we can be. I have taken the time today to update and repair parts of this website. Remember, there are free ebooks here for the taking. Your reviews are always welcome and much appreciated. Please take a moment to download a few today.
I continue to write my works of fiction and am continuing to struggle through my fantasy novel. I have also written an introduction to another novel that is also a work of fiction but not in the horror or fantasy grenre. It is something new...wish me luck!
October 2008: I am very pleased to announce that October is free ebook month at DPebooks.com. I began this tradition a few years back and have kept it alive and well thanks to your continued patronage. Surf on over to DPebooks.com and pick an ebook you would like to read today! You are just one email away from reading my latest work.
Parabellum is alive, well and released. After over two years of work, the ebook has been released to the public. It is a work of science fiction where thanks to the belligerence of various religious beliefs, the world as we know it changes drastically. So drastically in fact, humanity must look toward the heavens for their new homes. [None of this is directly spelled out in the novel so it pays to read my blog!] Micah is an old world human that found a new life thanks to science and a very forward thinking bio-engineer named Kimberly. The story is a fun mash-up of values versus what might be should people loose sight of what really matters.
Happy Halloween!
August 2008:
Just received some
very interesting news this past week! A fellow author, Sheila Marie Jaworski,
pen name LadyDarkSky, emailed me to let me know that my free ebooks had been
harvested by a group of winmix users(?). While I know that people are always
looking to spread around a good thing, it never occurred to me that someone
would take my free ebook and offer it elsewhere! She offered the following stats
from the website she is familiar with:
623 downloads of Those Eyes ebook
228 downloads of Vampire Nation Sample ebook
I am not exactly sure what the URL of the website is as of yet, it is great to know that they are helping spread the word! I have no doubt that my ebooks have been harvested by a wide variety of people and offered for download to their friends and fellow ebook readers for a variety of reasons and I think it is wonderful. While I wish I could harvest all the download stats, just for my own knowledge, does it really matter? Would it help to tell a publisher that I have been downloaded XXXX number of times?
Who knows & who cares. Self e-publishing is the key. If you happen to stumble upon a place that offers any of my ebooks for download, please let me know! I would love to create a list of URL's here on this blog for your referral! Until then, I guess you are just going to have to get them from the source.
Hope you are having a great summer!
July 2008: Parabellum call for artwork. Deadline 15 August 2008. Those eyes...ebook released free to the public Author Mm's real name released. Can you find it? Website renovated. Working on Rangers Keep and I am hoping to release a revised edition of Home Offense soon!
Oh, yeah…I am working on updating and renovating this website. My team has slacked off BIG-time this summer and not given me any input. If you have time today, offer feedback in any capacity on how to improve this place for great people like you!
September 2007: Parabellum call for artwork. Deadline 15 August 2008. Are you an artist looking for exposure? It matters not what your medium is, as long as you can convert it into .jpg format, I will be glad to include it in the "ART WORK" section of my ebook with full credit given to you. I understand you can’t come up with art blind so all artists have access to the rough draft of the work in advance for the asking. All you have to do is send an email to me and let me know you are interested in submitting artwork for the ebook, Parabellum.
September 2007: Parabellum is finished! Well, the rough draft anyway. I managed to finish it yesterday. I had a bout of inspiration and then the way to end it also hit me and all of the sudden, the novel was complete. It will be my first venture into the Sci-fi genre. Not sure when proofing and graphics/art will be done and the ebook available, but…it will be worth the wait!
September 2007: The website is looking dapper and I am very pleased with the new look. My writing has been stopped dead in its tracks because of a PC crash and a lack of software at the moment! I have been able to save my "old" files but do not have the software to open them with. I am working toward a positive solution and will be typing my fingers off in no time!
August 2007: Both the Team DPe and I have been working on renovating this website and that has taken a good week out of my writing time. Sure, I have slipped in a little but not as much as I would like. Being a self-published author means a whole lot more than writing. I have web pages to update and maintain as well as marketing and advertisement to think about. This site was sorely lacking in content and fun so, I have tried to lighten the mood to reflect more of the real me. I can’t thank Tina Criton, Terri V. and Diva C enough for all their help this past week! Let me know what you think of the new look and feel of the website. Email
August 2007: Hit a wall! Not a writing wall, but a health wall. Spent more than a few days in the hospital and have more doctors appointments than I can keep tract of. I am still moving on Parabellum but far more slowly than I would like. I have created a digital graphic image of the ship and have asked two artists, one a fine arts man and the other a sequential arts fellow to help me illustrate this ebook! Yes, believe it or not I am going to raise the bar once again and create an illustrated ebook! Very exciting.
July 2007: Holy frelling space balls! The story is just pouring out of me as if it is real! There is not a moment that I can not sit down and put down story. I try to make notes during working hours and fill in the gaps at night but lately I have been going full bore both places! Parabellum is going to be a very good work of science-fiction. Preliminary feedback is very positive!
June 2007: I have jumped feet first into the story and it is moving along, as always faster than I can type! If I could only type as fast as my imagination I would be a wonderful author. No writers block here…ever! Everything is moving well and I have decided to throw in a unique twist into the story Parabellum (now named thank-you-very-much) that should keep things moving fast and furious! The main character is really developing in many ways and I am hoping that many will relate to his struggles and inner strife.
June 2007: I had a dream the other night that has led to a new storyline. This one is strictly science-fiction. Yes, as in, all in outer space, kind of science fiction. I realized that I do have thin skin so what I did in order to help myself get better working with people on my works as ask people to generate a character for me to use in my story. Sure, I had the main idea, plot, and flow. But what I was lacking was the details of each character. Team DPe came together with a wonderful variety of characters that really made things very interesting. For me, it is like working a written jigsaw puzzle! When do I introduce this character, what can she do? What can’t he do? Is there a spy among the eclectic group? It will take me a while to get all these character straight in my head!
April 2007: Made the biggest mistake. I went to another author and asked an opinion. She gave it to me straight and I could not handle it. Thin skinned. I have a rule about writing, never ask anyone what they think about my work until its done. If they like it fine, if not…go away, you bother ME. I was wrestling with the idea of how much “Middle Earth” I should use in the work. I asked a friend and fellow writer, whom I consider one of the foremost living experts on the subject of Middle Earth what she thought; I sent her the rough draft manuscript for her review and she made a single remark that just hit me wrong. Thin skinned I am. I stopped writing the story straight away and left off.
February 2007: I was hit with a wonderful idea for a story involving a young man taking his leave from his family to strike out on his own to find not only himself, but what lay beyond the fields of his small village. Once I get the idea it just fills my head and funs like a feature film. I have to slow it down so that I can actually get my fingers to type it all out. I miss out on some stuff because even while I am at work or play, I often find myself expanding upon the story!
January 2007: I released a very short ebook about home offense. My military training as well as my background just warranted me sharing some of the information I have in my skull…shared with others. The ebook is down and dirty simple. I made the cover all by myself! (Don’t you say a word!!!) I have received very positive feedback, oddly enough, from the single female arena. I had not thought the title would appeal to them!
