The worlds of Author MM

Non-Fiction

My non-fiction work comes from my personal experiences. I have self-epublished Palor to Color.

Palor to Color is about my journey from black and white to color! Many people take seeing color for granted and have no idea how incredibly lucky they are.

Birthright Series

The vampire craze had reached its peak. Groups of teens and even young adults claimed to belong to a specific house or clan. Some took vacations on cruise ships set up with activities only behind UV protective glass or on deck only after dark. A few took it so far as to have orthodontic work done to their teeth. It was when being a vampire became in vogue that the Vampire Council gave a single Master permission to rise, along with privileged members of his clan, to begin research on a very promising project. With vampires all the rage, a real vampire could blend into society with little to no difficulty. Who would think anything less of a well-to-do young man with money to burn? He was just another pretender, or was he?

All the state and federal agencies knew was that the ghoul risings were very real and very deadly. Laws, agencies and teams of dedicated men and women were formed to meet the new paranormal situations. People began to lose faith in men and women of the cloth. It seemed that religion of any sort could not stop the onslaught of attacks. Many turned from organized religion and spent money otherwise earmarked for high tech security systems and weapons of all sorts to combat the undead should they become targeted. The attacks were seemingly senseless and random.

Orange County, Virginia, had been one county that had been spared the horrors of ghoulish activity. Until the night Victor Bolvet, Master Vampire, decided to initiate the latest member of his clan, and target the individual of his desires for decades. The magic that was unleashed set repercussions into motion that no one could have ever foreseen. Not even the oldest vampire could have known what would be spawned from the single event. Residents of Orange County were dazed. The county officials were slow to respond, and the government even slower. By the time all was said and done; the Sheriffs in-laws were dead, a beautiful, recent grad of Orange County High named Regina had disappeared, and his nephew had become a driving force that would change the role and expectations of a paranormal investigator forever.

The world has become a place where it is not safe to window shop at midnight unless you have a death wish or are a wanna-be. With the Vampire Council’s waking of a single Master and a few of his clan, an unexpected domino effect occurred that let rise more than a few vampires. The now awake and feeding vampires triggered two primary and one very specific and yet connected occurrences. First, and by far the most logical, was that it created new vampires that were rogue. For decades the Vampire Council had ruled their own with an iron hand. But now, “the residuals” walk the earth freely. And being bound to no Master vampire or clan makes them a liability to both mankind and the Council. The second thing that happened was that lycanthropy, a lesser magic that had been lying dormant in the genes of certain people for millennia, came alive. Not only did humanity face ravenous vampires but on the full moon, they now faced werecreatures. With the rising of the magic also came the unwanted, by both the undead and humanity, rising of the recently deceased. From funeral homes and graves, they came with only one purpose, to feed on human flesh. The ghoul risings were directly connected to the awakening of the vampires. Yet, neither humanity nor the most educated vampire could explain the link.

Charles Wolfgang Edwards had lost his parents in a ghoul attack. He was camping on his uncle’s farm with his girlfriend the night of the attack. His world was forever changed the moment his parents died. He took a road less traveled and far more dangerous than he would ever imagine. Charles accepted his uncle’s offer of becoming the county’s newest hire as a paranormal investigator. Both he and his girl had always taken an interest in the undead and their presence in the world. But what was once only a curiosity would soon become a way of life or death.

Charles entered the police force as a newbe without a single day of training. The only thing he had on his side was a large chip on his shoulder and a score to settle with the undead who had killed his parents. He would learn on the fly and force himself and his team to expect the unexpected. Charles became the most feared paranormal investigator in the United States. His reputation and number of kills surpassed those that had been fighting the undead since their awakening. This caught the attention of the U.S. Military who had been covertly combating the undead for the longest period of time. It also caught the attention of the U.S. Government and the news media. And most of all, it caught the attention of the Vampire Council who knew just who and what Charles Wolfgang Edwards really was.

No one was really worried about an Orange County Paranormal Investigator Team Leader. Not until he quit his job and dropped out of site that is…

For tech-heads:

Sidearms for close in or backup use include, but are not limited to, the Model 3a, a handgun chambered in 454 Casull, and several Kukri style blades.

Some of the weapons and equipment Charles uses to eradicate the vampires he encounters at medium range are:
The Spectre, a full/semi auto compact 9mm machine pistol, and 12 gauge shotgun with a 20MM grenade launcher attachment. [20MM ammunition used are White phosphorous, high explosive or UV flash rounds.]

For long range work the Slayer uses an antique Mauser bolt action rifle, chambered in 6.5 x 55, with open sights. His new weapon, the BC Industries, Sniper I. is a semiautomatic rifle with bull barrel chambered in 308 caliber. This weapon has all the latest optics and upgrades any long distance shooter needs for pinpoint accuracy. Ammunition is classified in specifics, but in general are pure silver rounds designed with maximum expansion in mind.

Finally, the Slayer is outfitted in the best body armor not available to the public or even private sectors. BC Industries has provided body armor that is comprised of Kevlar, Teflon, synth-ceramic and other classified materials that help keep the Slayer and his team safe from stray rounds as well as the tooth and claw of undead and werecreature alike.

Science-Fiction

I have always loved the science fiction genre. Since I was old enough to read or watch television, science fiction was my preferred entertainment. It is only natural that I should write at least one work in this arena. I see our future in the stars we marvel at. One day, humanity will infest other worlds, the black and places that have been between the pages of sci-fi books. My first work of science fiction is titled, Parabellum.

Fantasy

You can thank J.R.R Tolkien for my absolute adoration of this genre. The first paperback I ever read from cover to cover (besides a comic book) was The Hobbit. It was true love since. This genre has always been very daunting for me! How can I compare to the great master of Middle Earth? They are some very big shoes to fill!

I have struggled and continue to struggle in this area. I have been working on a story, Rangers Keep, for over three years. It is by far the most challenging story and genre I have yet to enter. I will one day, release a work in this genre!
